VISUAL THINKING FROM THE BRILLHART LAB
THE BRILLHART LAB

Brillhart Lab serves as a visual catalogue of and repository for creative research and exploration, independent of but inherently tied to my architectural practice, Brillhart Architecture. Mostly conceptual studies, these imperfect and unfinished paintings, drawings, models, furniture, essays, musings and objects often serve as idea generators for future buildings, working their way into the architecture consciously and unconsciously. In ways, this platform draws reference from the book Le Corbusier’s Secret Laboratory: From Painting to Architecture, as well as AMO, the independent arm of OMA which was designed as a think tank and avenue to “interrogate architectural production and research without waiting for commissions and without the need to build anything.”

For me, this collection of ideas represents a living investigation of how I process and perceive information; and the platform acts as a digital pin-up space where I can come back again and again, to reference, reflect and expand.  Echoing Rem’s own sentiments, “maybe architecture doesn't have to be stupid after all.”
